In response for a request for help from Milton Keynes Broadband Action Group, BT Openreach engineers traced 2 separate sources of Repetitive Electrical Impulse Noise (REIN) which have been causing serious inteference problems with Broadband signals over large areas of Loughton. I have received several reports from residents that their broadband performance has significantly improved since the beginning of February after Openreach traced the problems. The source was found to be caused by faulty domestic equipment which did not show any signs of problems to their owners but thankfully they have agreed to dispose of them. Many thanks to all those concerned.
BT have also announce a Fibre To The Premises trial from their Bradwell Abbey exchange and it is hoped that this will cover the Loughton area. This is very exciting and offers download speed of 100 Mbps and 10 Mbps upload speed. The participating ISPs have not yet been announced but if you would like to be considered for the trial, you should check the details on the MK Broadband site below and contact your ISP.
Many parishioners will have noticed a number Openreach vans in Loughton at the beginning of June who were installing the Fibre for the FTTP trial which is due to start at the beginning of July. To-date, BT/Openreach have not released any details of who will be connected and when the service actually start but from information published on ISPs web sites it would appear that there will be a number of parishioners in Loughton connected. It is thought that the general roll-out will happen at around the end of the year.
